The KRO Favorites Index, which now has 25 companies finished the week up 53.2% for the year, a new high, and is starting to catch up with the KRO Bottom-Fish Index which was up 61.4%.
The top performer is Robert Friedland's Sunrise Energy Metals Ltd which is up 472.3% at a new recent high of $1.345. It may be benefiting from widening publicity about the critical role scandium will play in chips required for 6G transmission which in turn will be a key part of future drone warfare. On May 6, 2025 I explained that Sunrise is tackling the R&D challenge of making a high scandium percentage metal alloy needed for these 6G chips. While the demand from this usage would be tiny compared to all the other lightweighting applications for Al-Sc alloys, its necessity for the US Department of Defense could be the means by which the traditional chicken-egg scandium problem is solved. Somebody with deep pockets and an urgent need bankrolls production capacity that coaxes hitherto reluctant offtake demand from the sidelines.
